Sliding Bearing Market

This study is being updated. The scope below is current. Request the latest edition and an analyst will send it to you, usually within one working day.

Sliding occurs along the contact surface between the moving element and the fixed element. This type of bearing is also called a plain bearing because the friction is generated by the two sliding surfaces. The shaft is usually supported by a sliding surface with oil and air in between to facilitate the sliding movement. Plain bearings are lightweight and have a long service life while introducing minimal vibration or noise. Loads are transferred from rotating parts to a stationary part called the frame or housing. Relative motion allows two members to proceed in one or both directions with minimal friction and also prevents movement in the direction in which the load is applied. Hence, increasing demand for high efficiency and a rise in railway development projects are expected to drive market growth over the forecast period.
